DTCP Cracks Down on Illegal Colonies Across 18 Acres in Gurugram’s Sohna

In a major enforcement drive, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has demolished illegal constructions spread across 18 acres in Gurugram’s Sohna region. The operation focused on unauthorized developments in the villages of Karanki, Sancholi, and Daulha, where 25 illegal structures—including partially built buildings, boundary walls, and road networks—were dismantled.

In Karanki village, DTCP cleared a one-acre illegal colony, demolishing:

  • 7 damp-proof courses
  • 5 boundary walls
  • A complete internal road network

In Sancholi, four unauthorized colonies spread over 11 acres were targeted. The demolitions included:

  • 3 partially constructed buildings
  • 9 boundary walls
  • Road infrastructure

In Daulha, a six-acre illegal development featuring a 100-meter boundary wall and internal roads was also removed.

According to Amit Madholia, District Town Planner from DTCP’s enforcement wing, these demolitions were carried out under the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963. Notices were served to landowners and developers beforehand, but failure to comply led to decisive action.

Madholia stressed that illegal plotting violates the master plan, often resulting in poor infrastructure, lack of amenities, and financial risks for buyers. The DTCP has reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement against such violations and has warned that future infractions will be dealt with firmly.

Authorities also urged the public to verify all land and property approvals before making purchases to avoid legal complications and financial losses.

This action is part of DTCP’s broader initiative to regulate urban expansion and enforce planning norms in Gurugram—one of India’s fastest-growing real estate markets. The crackdown sends a clear message that unregulated developments will not be tolerated.
