MahaRERA, Maharashtra’s real estate regulatory authority, has reached a major milestone by surpassing 50,000 registered agents, reflecting the growing scale and influence of the state’s real estate sector. The registered agents not only belong to various parts of Maharashtra but also hail from over 150 cities across India, including New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. This wide participation showcases Maharashtra’s dominant role in shaping the national real estate landscape.

As of now, out of the 50,673 total registered agents, 31,980 are active. The remaining 18,693 agents have been de-registered, primarily due to non-compliance issues such as failure to obtain mandatory certification or non-renewal of licenses. These requirements are strictly enforced under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, ensuring professionalism and regulatory compliance in the sector.

The Konkan region, which includes the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, leads with 21,050 registered agents. The Pune division follows with 8,205 agents. Other regional figures include:

  • Nagpur: 1,504 agents
  • Northern Maharashtra: 490 agents
  • Sambhajinagar: 343 agents
  • Amravati: 237 agents

Within the Konkan area itself, Mumbai city contributes 3,457 agents, while its suburbs add another 8,365 to the total count.

The surge in agent registrations outside Maharashtra further signifies MahaRERA’s growing reputation nationwide. These agents serve as critical intermediaries, guiding homebuyers and developers through complex transactions. They provide essential legal and regulatory information such as the Model Sale Agreement, Carpet Area, Allotment Letter, and the Defect Liability Period.

To maintain high standards, MahaRERA requires all agents to complete formal training and obtain certification, ensuring they stay updated with regulatory changes and best practices. The authority’s decision to cancel registrations for nearly 19,000 agents underlines its strict approach to enforcement and transparency.

This milestone not only reflects the expanding footprint of MahaRERA but also reinforces its role in making real estate dealings more transparent, consistent, and trustworthy for buyers across India.
